Sigma ART lenses: setting the benchmark

11 Sep 2017

Sigma have been a very well known name in the photography world for many years. The range of focal lengths and camera mounts available is only matched by the number of different opinions there are about their quality. It's not unfair to say that what has let Sigma down in the past is the enormous variation there can be between two lenses that are seemingly identical.

With the introduction of their ART series of lenses this has all changed. This new range has turned the photographic world upside down, The build quality is outstanding and the optical quality (let's face it, the most important consideration), puts them head and shoulders above every other manufacturer including the previous 'holy grail', Zeiss,

They are not the cheapest of lenses and they are heavy but quality will always come at a price.

I have invested, (it IS an investment), in two of the range, the 35mm f/1.4 and the 85mm f/1.4 and in the days and weeks to come, I hope to be able to post some of the photos I have taken with my new babies.
