Clouds and silver linings

We were looking forward to a well earned break in the sun (Gran Canaria to be exact). We generally stay at a private complex owned by friends of ours and so book flights independently. Our airline of choice for the trip to Gran Canaria has always been Monarch - they operate a modern fleet, comfortable extra leg-room seats (important for me) and fly from Manchester and are comparatively priced. Sadly, a couple of weeks ago they ceased trading leaving us without flight or our money (we paid by debit card). We couldn't get another flight as we were restricted as to when we could go so we cancelled the trip.

Obviously we were a little disappointed but hey ho, we would just take the time off anyway and do 'nothing'. Then out of the blue (I'm a great believer in fate), my partner saw an advert on the interwebbynet for a special deal to Kuala Lumpur and Borneo including a visit to the Orangutan sanctuary which has always been a dream of mine. Two days later and we are all booked and fly out in a few weeks. I am so excited I can't even begin to describe how I feel. Even better, we get to fly to Malaysia with Malaysia Airlines on a shiny new Airbus A380. I love that aircraft.

If that wasn't enough, I've also been told by the Nikon Professional Service that the Nikon D850 I ordered a few weeks ago will be allocated to me in the next batch that arrives in the UK. Fingers crossed that it will arrive in time for me to take it to Malaysia. Lens wise, I plan on taking my Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, Sigma 35mm f/14 ART and Nikon 70-200 f/2.8. Thank goodness for 30Kg each baggage allowance.
